Derisk were appointed by a prominent building owner in Central London to manage and safeguard the process of asbestos removal during the major refurbishment of their 10 storey, Grade II listed building that features prominently on the Embankment.
Derisk’s appointment included preparation of specification for asbestos removal, provision of technical advice and consultancy to the Client, management of the tender process for asbestos removal and the associated air testing requirements. Derisk also ensured the Principal Contractor provided timely delivery of their project programme in respect of the asbestos removal.
Our highly competent and experienced Consultancy team combined their extensive knowledge and experiences from previous projects to provide practical and effective solutions to the complex requirements of asbestos removal within this building.
The refurbishment project was carried out in phases, with the building remaining in normal occupation on many of the floors whilst the asbestos removal works were carried out. This required complex logistics and organised movement of operatives, plant, materials and waste to ensure complete safety at all times for the Client, the occupiers and building visitors.
Due also to the listed status of the fabric and finishes within the building, the planning of airtight enclosure construction was required to protect the delicate nature of these features.
The client relied heavily on the Derisk Consultancy team during all stages of contractor negotiation and appointment, drawing on our experience to ensure safe delivery.
Derisk provided support to the Client throughout the Project by attending progress meetings and providing the technical advice to resolve any issues between the various parties involved.
